Dr. Patrick DeMare is a well-qualified physician with over thirty years of experience in Family and Sports Medicine, and a focus on patient care and preventative medicine. Along with being the owner of a well-established Family Practice group, he has successfully worked with hospitals throughout the Tri-State area.
Graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame, Dr. DeMare continued his education with an externship in Gastroenterology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He then went on to complete a rotation internship with Green Cross Hospital with training in emergency and children’s medicine. Upon completion of his training, Dr. DeMare assumed the position of chairman of the Emergency Department at Massillon General hospital where he served as chairman for three years. From there Dr. DeMare did a residency in Family Medicine at J.F. Kennedy Medical Center/ Rutgers Medical School and has also completed mini fellowships in Cardiology at Newark Beth Israel Center, and in Family Practice Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry Rutgers Medical School.
Patrick graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Health Sciences Kansas City College and was recognized as the class valedictorian. During his time there, he was also elected the Junior and Senior class president, was a member of the Student Council and Curriculum Committee, got elected to all Osteopathic Honor Societies, and was awarded the Mosby Scholarship Award for Academic Excellence.
In addition to his education, Dr. DeMare has many years of experience in teaching and research. He continues to act as a Preceptor for first and second-year medical students at the Newark branch of UMDNJ, as well as third and fourth-year students from the Robert Wood Johnson and Osteopathic branches. As an established and respected doctor with numerous publications and lectures, DeMare has been elected as a member of multiple advisory boards and is currently acting Vice President of the Boonton Board of Health.
