“An office visit is multipurpose. It’s a time to treat a specific condition plus focus on wellness.”
Early on, Anna Chung was inspired by members of her family who work in the field of medicine, and in high school she made the decision to follow their lead. “I was interested in the sciences, particularly health care, and I had a desire to help people be well overall,” says Anna. Initially, she worked in internal medicine and nephrology, but her desire to treat entire families steered her to family medicine.
Understanding the patient’s background is important in providing comprehensive health care. Understanding family history – including parents and grandparents – reaps benefits beyond the family dynamic. “A family’s history is part of a patient’s unique picture of health and well-being. Having that background helps me provide the best prevention tips and medical treatment,” adds Anna. “Over the years, you build relationships with your patients and get to witness their milestones throughout life. It is rewarding and often influences patient compliance.”
Patients appreciate Anna’s thoroughness, caring and time spent on education – the extra time she takes to ask a few questions has helped patients get the overall emotional and physical wellness care they need.
She joined Changebridge in 2004 as a physician assistant and provides a variety of services under the guidance of a medical doctor to patients, including annual physicals, wellness checkups, diagnoses, medication management, blood pressure screenings, inoculations and vaccinations.
Anna speaks conversational Korean, for patients who may be searching for a word or phrase to understand important medical information. When she is off from work, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, reading, playing tennis, and skiing. She is the mother of two wonderful children, is an active volunteer at their schools and leads her daughter’s Girl Scout troop.
